The Robial Clock (part 1)

Hello there again. It's been a while...

Last time, I ranted about my difficult experience with a past work project. This time, I've decided to share a little personal project I've worked on out of nostalgia. Or at least, I thought it was nostalgic(?)

A while ago I stumbled upon this wonderful video on YouTube detailling the history of the CANAL+ channel's branding and its evolution over the years. I was very fascinated by the work of the person who made the video and absolutely loved the way they went over Etienne Robial's work for the channel.

This brought back memories of my childhood of when my dad first had CANAL+ installed at home (CANAL SATELLITE at the time) and we watched Teletubbies every morning. I remember the music used for the jingles and the idents, the colors, and the very iconic visual identity of the channel. Nowadays, it's not the same anymore. The channel has changed a lot over the years, and I think it's lost a bit of its charm.

Seeing all of that made me feel inspired and I wanted to see if I could recreate the opening sequence of the channel's oldest ident. I was not yet born around the time it was aired (1984-1994), so for me the whole concept of it was complete discovery. I ended up creating an SVG animated clock that's very inspired by the original one.

I might end up trying to do the same for the second visual identity of the channel, since it's the most iconic one for me as I grew up with it.

Anyway, let me introduce to you... the Robial Clock!
